香港正經歷急速變革，與人權、自由等公眾利益息息相關的案件，每天在各級法院提堂、審訊和判決。不過隨着數間媒體停運，數十名法庭記者流失，法庭新聞報道減少，部分案件缺乏關注，甚或消失於公眾視線。

有見及此，一群前法庭記者創立名為《法庭線 The Witness》的新媒體，盼繼續在法庭現場記錄及報道，讓大眾及時和更容易了解法庭審訊和裁決，以及其對自身權利的影響，從而拉近公眾與法庭的距離。

在瞬息萬變的時代，《法庭線 The Witness》記者身在香港和法庭現場，見證記錄。

《法庭線 The Witness》秉持獨立、準確和持平的新聞原則，透過在香港和法庭實地採訪，保障公眾知情權，維護公眾利益。

To any fellow Ontarians who see this,

Please call to broaden the health insurance coverage to anyone who has been living in the province for a certain period of time, eliminating the additional requirement on immigration status.

Currently, the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) is only eligible to some people residing in Ontario, ruling out those who are not permanent residents and not work here. THIS IS DISCRIMINATION.

Some of us may be on the lucky side, and are able to afford some form of paid insurance like the UHIP, but they do not provide us with OHIP benefits. Some providers may ask us to pay up-front before receiving any medical service from them. Some may charge non-OHIP holders a much higher fee than the OHIP rates, so even if we ask the insurance to reimburse the cost, we still pay a lot out of pockets, maybe several hundred dollars for a simple procedure. Needless to say, the paid insurance usually do not cover everything that OHIP covers, and the process to get coverage is another big hurdle. Some insurances require pre-authorization for some procedures, and some just don't have coverage for many life-saving health services.

This situation is NOT ACCEPTABLE. As people who come to live in Ontario from other parts of the world, we are already paying disproportionally more than citizens and permanent residents for things like tuition fees, and we pay income tax, sales tax and any kind of tax just the same way as them. How, indeed, would it be reasonable for us to not get the same medical coverage?

Please help us by calling for the removal of the additional requirement [0] for the immigration status, and make OHIP eligible for *any* people who meet the residency requirements, as illustrated on the provincial government website:

- be physically in Ontario for 153 days in any 12‑month period
- be physically in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after you began living in the province
- make Ontario your primary residence
